The kitties are much more receptive to me picking them up and cuddling them.

We were gone over the weekend, and when we got back last night, Reba who had been the most reticent about being picked up, let me do just that and loved it. How amazing. I'm a true believer now!

Reba still likes being picked up more than Roxie, though Roxie tolerates it. But they are both very affectionate, and sit on my lap every night, if we're watching TV or listening to music. And, of course, they follow me to any room I'm working in during the day.
