If you find yourself habitually stuck in the planning stages of achieving your goals and not making it to the implementation step, you are one of many!  People often have great intentions and grandiose ideas for achieving better health or improving personal finances yet never make any noticeable headway with the implementation of these plans.

There are plenty of great books, on-line resources, and product referrals from co-workers, family, and friends to help with every problem imaginable. Why do so many people find it difficult to implement a plan that will benefit their life in some way? Read on and find out...

A Traditional Approach...

The traditional approach to improving a less-than-satisfactory situation in life is to analyze the situation, define the problem and come up with a plan that fixes the problem. The law of supply and demand often comes into play in these solutions; whether we are trying to balance:

  • finances...make more money/spend less
  • academics...study more/goof-off less
  • physical health...do more physical activity/eat less
  • The ultimate goal of this analysis is to strengthen a weakness (lack of ability to make more money, lack of focused studying, physical laziness) and reign in a compulsive trait (spending money, goofing off, eating too much food).

    Extenuating Circumstances...

    Extenuating circumstances in an individual's personal life can inhibit successful implementation of plans and block the achievement of personal goals.

  • The breadwinner in the family may be burned-out and is no longer motivated to work or make more money.
  • A student may have an old memory haunt of studying hard to pass a class only to fail.
  • An overweight person may have a fear of not having enough food to eat and the prospect of trying to eat less is disconcerting and terrifying.

  • The analysis phase of the traditional approach and one-size-fits-all approaches does not factor in an individual's extenuating circumstances.
